A regional transit system for central Arkansas means that people can travel between virtually all major destinations safely and efficiently via rail or bus. Such connections are planned between downtown Little Rock and Conway to the northwest, Jacksonville and Cabot to the northeast, Benton and Bryant to the southwest and to west Little Rock. Exact alignments and modes (whether light rail, commuter rail or bus rapid transit) to be determined by further study. The cost to build, operate and maintain a regional transit system in central Arkansas is estimated to be roughly $3.0 billion. This assumes the system would be up and running by 2030 and includes 10 years' worth of operating expenses (2030-2040).
Imagine Central Arkansas
Do you ever find yourself daydreaming about what the future may hold? Perhaps what you’ll be doing or where you’ll be 20 or 30 years from now?
Imagine Central Arkansas is the region’s opportunity to do just that. To imagine what the future will be like…where our children will work, live and play…how they will get there.
